What do I need?

Home Assistant with the ESPHome integration, and an Android device running Android 7.0 or newer. Both need to be on the same local network.

Does my audio go through the cloud?

No. Home Assistant sends audio straight to the device over your local network. HAudio doesn't need an account or an internet connection to play.

Can I use it for text-to-speech announcements?

Yes. Use any TTS engine in Home Assistant with the HAudio media player as the target. If music is playing, it pauses for the announcement and then resumes.

Can I have more than one speaker?

Yes. Install HAudio on each device and give each one a name. Every device appears in Home Assistant as its own media player.

Does the app have to stay open?

No. HAudio runs as a background service with a small notification, so it keeps working with the screen off or while you use other apps.

What happens after the free trial?

The speaker stops playing until you unlock HAudio with the one-time purchase. Your settings are kept, and the purchase is linked to your Google account, so you can restore it on your other devices.
